Everbright International Sees Multiple Waste-to-energy Projects Complete Construction and Commence Operation

11 August 2017, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group's Weifang Waste-to-energy Project ("Weifang Project") Phase II in Shandong Province, Suining Waste-to-energy Project ("Suining Project") in Sichuan Province, and Gaochun Waste-to-energy Project ("Gaochun Project") in Jiangsu Province have recently completed construction and commenced operation in succession.

Weifang Project Phase II is designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 500 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB165 million. The project is equipped with a self-developed 500 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnace and a 12MW turbine power generator with auxiliary equipment. After Weifang Project Phase II commences operation, the total designed daily household waste processing capacity of Weifang Project will be increased to 1,500 tonnes. Its gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard, and the project is expected to generate 168,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Suining Project is the very first waste-to-energy project that Everbright International has invested in and constructed in Sichuan Province. The project was invested, constructed, and is now operated and managed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model by Sichuan Everbright Environmental Investment Company Limited, a joint venture company established by Everbright International and Sichuan Energy Industry Investment Group Co. Ltd. Suining Project is designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 800 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB450 million. The project is equipped with two self-developed 400 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnaces and a 15MW turbine power generator with auxiliary equipment. Its gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard and it is expected to generate approximately 76,700,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Gaochun Project is designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 500 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB260 million. It is equipped with a self-developed 500 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnace and a 12MW turbine power generator with auxiliary equipment. Its gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard and it is expected to generate approximately 59,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Mr. Hu Yanguo, CEO of Environmental Energy Sector at Everbright International, said, "After the three waste-to-energy projects commence operation, the total number of Everbright International's operating waste-to-energy projects now stands at 35 in eight provinces across China, which harmlessly process, reduce and reuse more than 30,100 tonnes of waste in total every day."

Mr. Hu added, "Through years of effort, Everbright International has accumulated extensive construction, operation and management experience, and has drawn upon it in different regional markets in a flexible and effective manner. This has laid a solid foundation for us to expand into new markets in the future. We will continue to uphold our engineering and construction principles of ‘First Class Quality, High Standard and Outstanding Efficiency' to steadily push forward the construction works of projects under construction. In the meantime, we will fully leverage our experience and advantages in operation and management to ensure that all our projects comply with relevant emission standards and run efficiently, with a view to effectively improving the local living environment and supporting the green and sustainable development of local areas in the long run."
