Everbright International Kicks Off Waste-to-energy Project in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province

Second Everbright Environmental Protection Veinous Industrial Park to Reside in Zhenjiang New District

Consolidates Leadership in Environmental Energy Sector

China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or "the Group") announced that Everbright Environmental Energy (Zhenjiang) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Group, and the Zhenjiang City Urban Management Bureau in Jiangsu Province have signed a "Concession Right Agreement" and "Waste Treatment Service Agreement" to build a waste-to-energy project in Zhenjiang City ("Zhenjiang Project"). This will be the Group's seventh waste-to-energy project in Jiangsu Province which further consolidates the Group's leading position in the environmental energy sector in the Province and the PRC.

The Group will invest a total of approximately RMB413 million in the Zhenjiang Project to be operated on BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis for a concession right period of 30 years. The plant has a designed daily processing capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes of household waste and will be completed and commence commercial operation in 2011. It will be the first project of the Group to be equipped with three 350-tonne self-developed waste incinerators and two 12 MW generators.

Furthermore, the Group will cooperate with the Zhenjiang New District Management Committee to develop the "Zhenjiang Veinous Industrial Park" in the Zhenjiang New District within the next two to five years. This will be the Group's second environmental protection veinous industrial park in the PRC, which will include a waste-to-energy project, integrated facilities for treatment and recycling of kitchen wastes, household sludge, construction wastes, scrap from dismantled cars, etc.
