Commence Construction of Suzhou Waste-to-energy Project Phase III

Strive to Meet the Highest Environmental Protection Standard in the PRC

China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group"), has announced that Phase III of the Suzhou Waste-to-energy Project ("Suzhou Project"), one of the key implementation projects of Suzhou Municipal Government in 2011, commenced construction on 16 September 2011. The total investment of the Suzhou Project Phase III is expected to be approximately RMB750,000,000 and it is scheduled to be completed and commence operation in March 2013.

The household waste-to-energy plant in Suzhou City is currently the largest waste-to-energy project operating in the PRC. Suzhou Project Phase I and Phase II have commanded a total investment of approximately RMB950,000,000. In 2010, its annual waste processing capacity was 950,000 tonnes. With the commencement of Suzhou Project Phase III, the Suzhou Project will have an annual waste processing capacity of 1,500,000 tonnes. It will generate 400,000,000 kWh of green power, equivalent to approximately 160,000 tonnes of standard coal and reduce emissions of CO2 by around 400,000 tonnes, which can be used by 330,000 households for a year. The project will process the household waste of Suzhou City from currently 70% to 100%. Therefore, the project will not only achieve the objective of "Be Incinerated, None for Landfill", but also further improve the ecological environment in Suzhou City.

To enhance the efficiency of waste processing and protect the surrounding environment, the household waste-to-energy plant in Suzhou City had also upgraded its technology. At the end of 2010, it successfully became the first household waste-to-energy plant in the PRC with all of its gas emission indicators in compliance with the EURO 2000 Standard.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, Chief Executive Officer of Everbright International, said, "Everbright International will see it is a good opportunity to uphold its construction principles of "Excellent design through deploying state-of-art technology and advanced equipment as well as high quality construction and first class management" in Suzhou Project Phase III with the successful experiences of Suzhou Project Phase I and Phase II. The Group will strive to build it into a model waste-to-energy project with the highest environmental protection standard in the country to address the concerns of the government and secure the satisfaction of local residents. Everbright International has long committed itself to the green business and strived to fulfill its responsibility to the society and environment by planning and managing each waste-to-energy project with the care it warrants. In the future, Everbright International will continue to construct and operate the project in a high standard, so as to match our overseas counterparts and achieve our objective of becoming a better high-tech and green company".
