Everbright International Secures Zibo Integrated Hazardous Solid Waste Treatment Project and Signs Shouguang Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement in Shandong Province

Demonstrates Market Leadership in the Province and Deepens Cooperation with Local Governments

May 29, 2013, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an investment cooperation agreement with the Zibo Municipal People's Government ("Zibo Government") of Shandong Province for the construction of the integrated hazardous solid waste treatment project in Qilu Chemical Industrial Park (the "Zibo Project" or the "Project"). The Zibo Project will be developed in four phases, commanding a total investment of approximately RMB400 million. It is designed to have an annual incineration processing capacity of 40,000 tonnes and an annual physico-chemical processing capacity of 50,000 tonnes and will also include respective landfill facilities.

Located in Qilu Chemical Industrial Park in Shandong Province, the Project will be the country's first integrated hazardous solid waste treatment project to encompass incineration, physico-chemical treatment and landfill of hazardous solid waste. Leading domestic technology will be deployed for safe treatment of hazardous solid waste. The Project will also adhere to relevant national environmental standards and its gas emission will comply with the Euro 2000 standard. Upon completion, the Project will service Qilu Chemical Industrial Park and its surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, the Group has also signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Shouguang Municipal People's Government ("Shouguang Government") of Shandong Province. Building on previous cooperation with the Shouguang Government in a waste-to-energy project, the Group will construct and operate an environmental protection industrial park and will involve in the development of alternative energy, hazardous solid waste treatment, sludge treatment and urban water projects etc in Shouguang. This will be the latest environmental protection industrial park project to be developed by the Group in Shandong. The Group has invested in the construction and operation of a waste-to-energy project in Shouguang, which is currently in its preparatory stage. Phase I of this project is designed to have a daily waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes and it is expected to commence operation in 2014.
