Everbright International Zhejiang Ningbo Waste-to-energy Project Phase I Commences Operation

Builds New Landmark in Coastal Region
Consolidating Strategic footprint in East China

8 May 2014, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that Phase I of the Ningbo Beilun Waste-to-energy Project ("Ningbo Project" or the "Project"), the first waste-to-energy project of the Group in Zhejiang Province, has commenced commercial operation.

The Group secured Ningbo Project in mid-2012. Having started construction in November 2012, the Project Phase I successfully passed the 72+24-hour trial run with stable operation in January 2014 and officially commenced commercial operation. The Project Phase I is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 1,000 tonnes and is expected to generate green electricity of over 112,000,000 kWh annually. Its gas emission has complied with the Euro 2000 Standard, and its leachate discharge has complied with the "Quality of Industrial Water from Recycling of Urban Waste Water", and has met China's national Grade 1 standard, realizing the target of Complete Reuse and Nil Discharge.
