Everbright International Nanjing Waste-to-energy Project Completes Construction and Commences Operation

29 June 2014, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Nanjing Jiangnan Veinous Industrial Park Waste-to-energy Project ("Nanjing Project" or "the Project") has completed construction and commenced operation. It is now being connected to a power grid and has started power generation.

Nanjing Project will serve the supporting infrastructure for Nanjing Youth Olympic Games 2014 which is also a major development for Nanjing City and Jiangsu Province. With a total investment of approximately RMB1.03 billion, the Project has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 2,000 tonnes and is expected to generate green electricity of over 220,000,000 KWh annually. The Project will be equipped with four mechanical grate furnaces, each with a daily waste processing capacity of 500 tonnes and two 20MW generators. The Project is invested on a BOT basis with concession period of 30 years and its gas emission will comply with the Euro 2000 Standard.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "The Nanjing Project has been designated as a key project by the Nanjing Municipal Government, which is significant to the welfare of the local citizens. The Project is expected to process approximately 800,000 tonnes annually of household waste in Nanjing City through employing harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste, which will effectively improve the city's environment and create a more livable environment for the local citizens."

Mr. Chen Xiaoping concluded, "The Group had a strong development momentum in the first half of this year. In addition to certain projects completing construction and commencing operation, we have secured seven waste-to-energy projects with a total designed daily household waste processing capacity of 5,900 tonnes in Jiangsu, Anhui, Hunan, and Shandong. The Group will continue to adhere to the principles of First Class Quality, High Standards, Advanced Technology, Outstanding Efficiency, and continue to construct leading environmental protection projects, so as to make contribution in advancing the sustainable development of the society."
