Everbright International Wins Shandong Xintai Household Waste-to-energy Project

25 June 2015, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce it has won the bid for Shandong Xintai Household Waste-to-energy Project ("Xintai Project" or the "Project"), with the leading score in the overall bidding process. Xintai Project is the ninth household waste-to-energy project that the Group has invested in and constructed in Shandong Province.

Xintai Project will be constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis for a concession period of 30 years. The Project has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 900 tonnes and will be constructed in two phases. Project Phase I has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB339 million. All gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2000 Standard and it is expected to generate approximately 70,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Xintai City is one of the top 100 counties in China. It is under the administration of Tai'an City, one of the 15 key medium-size cities for development in Shandong Province. As citizens' living standards continue to improve, the only waste landfill site in Xintai City can no longer cope with the city's demands. In light of this, the government of Xintai City is proactively promoting the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste. The Project will effectively improve the urban environment of Xintai City.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Everbright International won the bid for Xintai Project with the highest overall score reflecting the Group's comprehensive strengths and professional standards. Xintai Project is close to Everbright International's Jinan Waste-to-energy Project, winner of the Luban Award, which is the top national honor for excellence in construction quality in China. Taking Jinan Waste-to-energy Project as a reference, the Group will follow its principles of First Class Quality, High Standards, Advanced Technology and Outstanding Efficiency in building Xintai Project as a pilot project in the city and with strict emission standard as its utmost responsibility, as to help resolve local household waste treatment problems."
