Mr. C Y Leung, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administration Region, Mr. Chen Xiaoping, Chief Executive Officer of Everbright International and Director of Everbright International Environmental Protection Charitable Foundation, WWF-HK and other officiating guests hosted the countdown ceremony and witnessed the poignant "lights-out" moment which highlighted how Hong Kong is taking action to support environmental protection.

Organized by WWF-HK, this year's Earth Hour Hong Kong focused on encouraging a sustainable lifestyle for the future. WWF is calling on everyone in Hong Kong to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and incorporate eco-friendly habits into their everyday lives, in a bid to combat environmental and climate change, and to contribute to the Earth's sustainable development.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said at the event, "It takes actions, perseverance and a sense of responsibility to protect the environment. The development of ecological civilization, although led by the government, should be owned by the general public and driven by enterprises; each party should fulfill their own duties and responsibilities. As key participants of economic development and environmental protection, enterprises and the public need to take action to promote a green, sustainable and low-carbon environment and a successful ecological civilization. To be an outstanding enterprise, one must commit to conducting business in a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner. We only have one Earth and it is our collective responsibility to work for a better world where humans can live in harmony with nature."

Mr. Chen continued, "This year marks the tenth anniversary of Earth Hour. Everbright International hopes the aspiration to conserve energy and protect the environment will continue over the next ten years and for many more decades to come."
