Everbright International Wins Shandong Jinan Waste-to-energy Plant Expansion Project

26 May 2016, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that it has won the bid for Shandong Jinan No.2 Household Waste Integrated Treatment Plant Waste-to-energy Expansion Project ("Jinan Expansion Project" or the "Project").

Jinan Expansion Project will continue to be constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis for a concession period of 25 years. The Project has a designed daily waste processing capacity of 750 tonnes with a total investment of approximately RMB 360 million. Gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard and it is expected to generate approximately 80,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

The Jinan No.2 Household Waste Integrated Treatment Plant Waste-to-energy Project ("Jinan Project") was secured in 2009. It was the Group's first waste-to-energy project in Shandong and originally the largest waste-to-energy project completed in one phase with a daily waste processing capacity of 2,000 tonnes. In its endeavor to carry out high quality projects and develop a strong brand, the Group successfully built Jinan Project as a demonstration project as well as an education base for promoting innovative environmental protection. Jinan Project has been maintaining stable operations in compliance with relevant discharge standards since its commencement of operation in September 2010. As at the end of 2015, the project has processed accumulative household waste of over four million tonnes.

Securing the bid for Jinan Expansion Project marks the Group's fourth waste-to-energy project this year and its fourteenth such project in Shandong province. Upon completion of the expansion, the daily household waste processing capacity of the Jinan No.2 Household Waste Integrated Treatment Plant will be increased to 2,750 tonnes and the amount of green electricity produced annually will reach 268,000,000 kWh.

Jinan, the capital of Shandong province, is the political, economic and cultural centre of the province. In light of the city's ever increasing environmental requirements, Jinan Expansion Project will further promote the safe and effective treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste, and hence play an effective role in improving the urban environment in Jinan.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Shandong province has always been an important strategic region for Everbright International. Winning the bid for Jinan Expansion Project highlights the confidence that government and industry experts have in our overall capabilities. We will continue to learn from our experience and strive to develop Jinan Expansion Project to be a demonstration project with the technological innovation and improved management methods which will benefit both our shareholders and the society."
