Everbright International Sees Fruitful Results from Project Expansion Signing Three New Environmental Protection Projects for the End of the Year

28 December 2016, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has recently secured three environmental protection projects, including Changzhou Xinbei Waste-to-energy Project ("Changzhou Xinbei Project") Phase II in Jiangsu Province, Guixi Biomass Cogeneration Projects ("Guixi Biomass Project") in Jiangxi Province, and Zibo Hazardous Waste Incineration Project ( Phase II) ("Zibo Hazardous Waste Project Phase II") in Shandong Province, which amount to a total investment of approximately RMB856 million.

The Group signed a supplementary agreement to its household waste-to-energy project concession agreement with Changzhou Xinbei District Construction and Administration Bureau in Jiangsu Province on 15 December to invest and construct the Changzhou Xinbei Project Phase II. The project Phase II will be developed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis, with a concession period of 30 years and a total investment of RMB370 million. It is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes and will generate 80,000,000 kWh of green power annually. Its gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard. Upon the completion of the project Phase II, the daily household waste processing capacity of the Changzhou Xinbei Project will reach 1,500 tonnes in total.

The Group also signed an investment agreement with the government of Guixi in Jiangxi Province to invest and construct the Guixi Biomass Project. It is Everbright International's first environmental protection project in the province, representing the strategic importance of exploring local environmental protection markets for the Group. The project will be constructed in two phrases. The project Phase I will be constructed on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) basis with a total investment of approximately RMB296 million. It is designed to have an annual biomass processing capacity of 300,000 tonnes and is expected to generate approximately 200,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually. Guixi City is China's commercial grain base and a key area for the production of wood materials in Jiangxi Province. It also plays a key role in the Yangtze River Shelter Forest System and has been designated as the country's grain reserve base. As a result, the city is rich in biomass resources.

In addition, the Group signed an investment agreement with the government of Zibo in Shandong Province on 26 December to invest and construct the Zibo Hazardous Waste Project Phase II. The project is designed with an annual hazardous waste processing capacity of 15,000 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB190 million. It will adopt advanced and internationally-renowned techniques, including Plasma Enhanced Melter technology in the main operating process, while its gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard. Zibo Hazardous Waste Project Phase I, which completed construction and commenced operation in August 2016, is designed with an annual hazardous waste processing capacity of 9,830 tonnes.
