Everbright International Secures Haiyan Waste-to-energy Project in Zhejiang Province

19 September 2017, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has recently secured Haiyan Waste-to-energy Project ("Haiyan Project" or the "Project") in Zhejiang Province.

Haiyan Project will be invested in and constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model for a concession period of 30 years (construction period inclusive). The Project will be invested, constructed, operated and maintained by a project company jointly established by Everbright International and a state-owned enterprise of the People's Government of Haiyan County. The Group will hold an 80% equity stake in the project company.

The Project has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,200 tonnes. The Project Phase I is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 800 tonnes, commands an investment of approximately RMB525 million, and is expected to generate 80,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually. It is equipped with two self-developed 400 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnaces and a 20MW turbine power generator. The gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard.

Haiyan County, one of the cradles of Songze Culture, is under Jiaxing City in Zhejiang Province. The county has been listed as one of the 100 most economically-competitive counties in China, and has won various honors, including National Outstanding Cultural County, National Outstanding County in Science and Technology, National Eco-Demonstration Region, National Landscape Garden County, Provincial Hygiene County and Provincial Culturally-advanced County.

Upon completion, the Project will become a new landmark that stands in harmony with the Hangzhou Bay Bridge. The Group will continue to adopt high standards, as well as high-quality design, operation and management, to establish the Project as a demonstration waste-to-energy project in eastern China. In the meantime, the Group aims to achieve the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste in Haiyan County, thereby facilitating the county's sustainable development in the long-term."
