Everbright International Secures Shandong Laiwu Waste-to-energy Project and Food Waste Treatment Project

2 June 2015, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has signed concession agreements with the Municipal Government of Laiwu City in Shangdong Province for a household waste-to-energy project ("Laiwu Waste-to-energy Project") and a food waste treatment project ("Laiwu Food Waste Treatment Project") respectively, to carry out the coordinated processing of household and food waste in Laiwu City.

Laiwu Waste-to-energy Project will be invested in and constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis, with a concession period of 30 years. It has a total designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,000 tonnes and will be constructed in two phases. With an investment of approximately RMB385 million, Phase I of the project is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes. Its gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2000 Standard.

Laiwu Food Waste Treatment Project is Everbright International's first food waste treatment project. It has a total investment of RMB50 million and will also be invested in and constructed on a BOT basis, with a concession period of 30 years. It has a designed daily food waste processing capacity of 100 tonnes and adopts an operating model that integrates collection, transportation and processing. The project will mainly process food waste from restaurants, hotels, businesses and school canteens in Laiwu City.

It will serve as a model for the future development of similar projects of the Group."
