Everbright International Secures Shandong Fei County Waste-to-energy Project

19 July 2016, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that it has signed a concession agreement for a household waste-to-energy project with the People's Government of Fei County, Shandong Province. The Group will invest in the construction of the Fei County Household Waste-to-energy Project in Shandong Province ("Fei County Project" or the "Project"), which is the sixteenth household waste-to-energy project that Everbright International has invested in and constructed in the province.

Fei County Project will be constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis for a concession period of 30 years. It has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 900 tonnes and will be constructed in two phases. Phase I has a daily household waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB350 million. The Project Phase I is expected to generate approximately 70,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually, and its gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard.

Fei County, under the administration of Linyi City in Shandong Province, has one of the most well developed forests with special economic value in China. In recent years, the county has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its rich ecology, culture and tourist facilities, and as a result, has seen rapid economic growth. With its economic development and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the county has seen increasing amounts of waste generated. The completion of the Fei County Project will help to improve the local environment and will ensure a sustainable pace of economic development by effectively processing household waste to render it harmless, as well as reducing and reusing it.
