Everbright International's Wujiang Waste-to-energy Project Completes Construction and Commences Operation

24 October 2016, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group's Wujiang Waste-to-energy Project ("Wujiang Project" or the "Project") in Jiangsu Province has completed construction and commenced operation.

Wujiang Project is a key livelihood project in the Wujiang District of Suzhou City in Jiangsu Province. It has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,500 tonnes and a total investment of approximately RMB890 million. The Project is equipped with two self-developed 750 t/d grate furnaces and two 18MW turbine power generators. Gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard. In addition, the Project is expected to generate more than 180,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

The 750 t/d grate furnace is China's first homebuilt large-scale grate furnace and has filled the void in the manufacturing of large-scale household waste incineration equipment in the country. The grate furnace's particular advantages include a highly automated system, units with a high degree of control, the ability to process various kinds of waste, highly efficient incineration and effective utilization of thermal energy.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "As Wujiang Project commences operation, Wujiang District is moving from landfill towards the harmless treatment, reuse and reduction of household waste, which will effectively promote the construction of an environmentally-friendly and resource-saving society. Everbright International remains fully committed to its social and environmental responsibilities through high standards of construction, safe and stable operations, ensuring all emissions comply with the environmental standards, and the Group aims to make Wujiang Project a national demonstration base for environmental protection education. It will set an example as a first-class landmark environmental protection project in China which blends in with Jiangsu's natural environment and Wujiang's beautiful landscape."
