Everbright Water's Technology Research and Innovation Achievements Receive Recognitions at Provincial and Municipal Levels

Singapore, 2 November 2017 – China Everbright Water Limited ("Everbright Water" or the "Company", SGX: U9E) (中国光大水务有限公司), an environmental protection company focusing on integrated environmental water services, is pleased to announce that the Company was recently awarded two major accolades at provincial and municipal levels, which are the inclusion of the collaborative initiative "Guangdong Urban Water Recycling and Water Environmental Safety Engineering Technology Research Center" (the "Center") in the "2017 Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center Recognition List" (the "2017 List"); and the jointly-developed project "Development and Application of Intelligent Waste Water Treatment Control System" (the "Project") being named as a key research project among the "2017 Chongqing Innovation Projects of Key Industrial Generic Technology". Winning these awards is resulting from the Company's continuing investing and efforts in technology research and innovation.

The Center was jointly set up by Everbright Water and the Graduate School at Shenzhen of Tsinghua University. It is the sole engineering technology research center focusing on water environmental safety recognised in the 2017 List, which was announced by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province. By applying the theories relating to effective circulation of urban water systems, the Center aims to enhance the research and application of engineering technology on water environmental safety. By placing water environmental safety as its core and using the indicator system for the spatial development of water systems as the basis, the Center is constructing a strategic system for water environmental safety, creating an engineering system to ensure water environmental safety, as well as applying the research outcome to water pollution prevention and control in key river-basins.

The Project was jointly conducted and submitted by Everbright Water and the local partners who excelled in the field of waste water treatment, including Chongqing University and a local enterprise partner, with a RMB200 million funding support received from the local government. Based on field research on local waste water treatment projects as well as collection of data on local market demands, the Project focuses on the research and development of an intelligent control system with low operational cost, high integration and automation. The Project also focuses on establishing an unmanned, cloud computing telematics system that can share information through network and realise remote control. This will help local waste water treatment projects to improve treatment efficiency, reduce treatment costs, thereby enhancing the economic, social and environmental benefits of the projects.

Following these trends, the provincial- and municipal-level accolades granted to the Center and the Project will certainly facilitate the local environmental water management efforts via engineering and technological innovation approaches, and promote the local ecological progress and sustainable development."
