Everbright Water Embarks on New Chapter in R&D,
with Development Driven by Technology and Innovation

Singapore, 9 January 2018 – China Everbright Water Limited ("Everbright Water" or the "Company", SGX: U9E) (中国光大水务有限公司), an environmental protection company focusing on water environment management, is pleased to announce that the Company achieved satisfactory results in its technology research & development ("R&D") in 2017. During the year, the Company enhanced its technology research system, attracted highly-skilled talent from home and abroad, and continuously optimised resource allocation to provide efficient and timely technological support to its projects.

In 2017, Everbright Water achieved a series of key technological breakthroughs and accomplishments in areas such as biological deodorisation system, low-temperature sludge drying, biological aerated filter, high-efficiency sedimentation tank, ozone catalytic oxidation, nonpoint source pollution purification treatment, and rainwater treatment system. Some of these technologies have been successfully applied to the Company's projects, greatly enhancing the technological proficiency, construction quality and progress of projects under construction. In addition, these technologies improved the quality and efficiency of the projects which are in operation.

Over the past year, Everbright Water achieved a new milestone in terms of the quality and quantity of the patent applications filed. It is notable that the number of patent applications in 2017 exceeds the total sum of the patent applications filed in previous years, with invention patent applications accounting for 34% of the total. During the process of researching and developing its proprietary technologies and other key technologies, Everbright Water filed patent applications to protect intellectual property, improve R&D capabilities, equip with leading technologies, enhance market competitiveness and aim for a larger market share. In 2017, the Company was granted 21 patents, with several other patent applications currently under review.

In 2017, Everbright Water's R&D projects reached a new record high in terms of the number of research areas covered and patent applications filed. This is due to the persistence and diligence of the Company's R&D team, and demonstrating the emphasis the Company places on technology R&D. As at the end of 2017, Everbright Water was awarded 58 water-related technology patents. In addition, in 2017, the Company received recognition from Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center, and was entrusted to develop technology R&D projects for several local governments at provincial and municipal levels, such as Shandong Province, Chongqing Municipality and Shenzhen City. These mark an achievement resulting from Everbright Water's investment in technology, and also serve as a source and guarantee for future development of the Company. Technological innovation remains a key growth engine for the Company's development. In the new year, backed by the Chinese central government's focus on ecological conservation, Everbright Water will seize a top-tier position in the area of science and technology, seek out new growth drive for its business, and actively promote a new round of development.

Separately, Everbright Water had eight waste water treatment projects which effected water tariff hikes in 2017. The water tariff hikes are approximately 31% for Sanmenxia Waste Water Treatment Project in Henan Province; 64% and 46% for Nanjing Pukou Waste Water Treatment Project and Xinyi City Waste Water Treatment Project respectively in Jiangsu Province; 86% for Daxing Tiantanghe Waste Water Treatment Project in Beijing Municipality; 23% for Zibo Waste Water Treatment Project (Southern & Northern Plants) and Upgrading, 24% for Zibo High-tech Zone Waste Water Treatment Project, 32% for Zibo Zhoucun Waste Water Treatment Project, and 8% for Qingdao Waste Water Treatment Project (Maidao and Haibohe Plants) in Shandong Province.
