Everbright International Secures Jiangxi Jiujiang Waste-to-energy Project

21 August 2018, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group will invest in and construct Jiujiang Waste-to-energy Project ("Jiujiang Project") in Jiangxi Province through a recent acquisition. The project is considered the Group’s second high-quality acquisition project after Zhaoqing Waste-to-energy Project in Guangdong Province.

Jiujiang Project commands an investment of approximately RMB1.27 billion (inclusive of acquisition cost). With a concession period of 30 years, the project is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 2,250 tonnes and is expected to generate green electricity of approximately 232,000,000 kWh annually. It will be equipped with three 750 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnaces and two 25MW turbine power generators, with gas emissions fully complying with the Euro 2010 Standard.

Jiujiang Project marks another important breakthrough for Everbright International following the Group’s Ji’an Waste-to-energy Project in Jiangxi Province. Jiujiang Project will provide the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste for the central urban area of Jiujiang City, Yongxiu County, De’an County, Hukou County, Ruichang City, Gongqingcheng City and Lushan City, serving more than 3.4 million local residents in total.

Mr. Wang Tianyi, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Jiujiang Project is the largest benchmark project invested by Everbright International in Jiangxi Province. It is also a major achievement of the Group in terms of carrying out the country’s initiatives to make every possible effort to protect the Yangtze River and create the most beautiful shoreline along the Yangtze River. Together with Ji’an Waste-to-energy Project, the total daily waste processing capacity of Everbright International in Jiangxi Province has reached 3,450 tonnes, making the Group the largest household waste-to-energy investor in the province."

Mr. Wang continued, "With more intensive environmental supervision, some environmental protection enterprises that are small in scale, strength or market share are expected to quit the market gradually. As a result, Everbright International expects more acquisition opportunities to arise accordingly. Jiujiang Project is the second high-quality acquisition project, following Guangdong Zhaoqing Waste-to-energy Project that was secured by the Group earlier this year. In the meantime, the progress of new project construction work is expected to accelerate, as the first half of the 13th Five-year Plan period has passed. Given the bright industry prospect, as a leading player in China’s environmental protection industry, Everbright International launched its rights issue plan on 14 August to raise HKD9.962 billion in total, with an aim of enhancing its financial strength, in order to grasp more market share, expand its industrial chain, and broaden its business areas. As a result, the Group will be able to boost its business scale and efficiency, strengthen its quality of services and brand, as well as drive growth through innovation and talent management."
