Everbright International Secures Jiangxi Yingtan Waste-to-energy Project

14 September 2018, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has recently secured Jiangxi Yingtan Waste-to-energy Project ("Yingtan Project"), with an investment of approximately RMB553 million.

Yingtan Project will be invested in and constructed based on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model by a joint-venture company established by Everbright International and a state-owned enterprise of Yingtan City. Everbright International holds a 70% stake in the joint-venture company. With a concession period of 30 years, the project is designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 1,000 tonnes. In addition, Yingtan Project will be equipped with two 500 tonnes/day mechanical grate furnaces and a 25MW condensing turbine power generator, and is expected to generate green electricity of approximately 114 million kWh annually. The project’s gas emissions will fully comply with relevant national standards, with daily average level of the online monitored gas emissions superior to the Euro 2010 Standard.

After completing construction and commencing operation, Yingtan Project is expected to provide the reduction, harmless treatment and reuse of household waste for Yingtan City, serving a population of more than 1.2 million.

Mr. Wang Tianyi, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Yingtan Project is the third environmental protection project invested and constructed by the Group in the Yingtan area, following the Guixi Biomass Electricity and Heat Cogeneration Project and Guixi Hazardous Waste Treatment Project. Yingtan Project is also the third waste-to-energy project secured by the Group within the year in Jiangxi Province that has a daily waste processing capacity over 1,000 tonnes, following Ji’an Waste-to-energy Project and Jiujiang Waste-to-energy Project. Upon securing of Yingtan Project, the Group’s total designed daily household waste processing capacity in Jiangxi Province has increased to 4,450 tonnes, which will further cement Everbright International’s leading position in the environmental protection industry in East China."

Mr. Wang continued, "Everbright International will adhere to its construction concept of ‘Producing Quality Projects and Building a Quality Brand’ and its operation philosophy of ‘Pursuing Excellence and Close to Zero Discharge’, and develop Yingtan Project into a quality and ecological demonstration project. In the meantime, the Group will further enhance its cooperation with the Yingtan municipal government in the environmental protection sector, with an aim of facilitating the improvement of the environmental, economic and social benefits for the city, as well as contributing to the green development and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt."
