Everbright International Won Bid for Xiongan New Area Waste Integrated Treatment Project, Everbright Group Chairman Li Xiaopeng Sends Letter of Congratulations to the Company

Hong Kong, 16 October 2019 – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Company") (HKSE: 257) is delighted to announce that, based on the merits of its excellent business strength and proficiencies in project construction and operation, the Company won the bid for Xiongan New Area Waste Integrated Treatment Project ("Xiongan Project") Phase I on 15 October, through months of fierce competition and strict assessment processes. Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Chairman of China Everbright Group, sent a letter to extend congratulations to Everbright International for winning the bid for Xiongan Project, as it marks a remarkable achievement for the national planning on the development of Xiongan New Area.

Xiongan Project will be invested in, constructed and operated by a project company, which is jointly established by Everbright International, China Xiongan Group Ecological Construction Co. and China Construction Second Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. The project is estimated to command a total investment of approximately RMB2.74 billion, with a concession period of 30 years (construction period inclusive). As a solid waste integrated treatment project, Xiongan Project upholds the principle of "harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of waste", and is expected to process solid waste across the entirety of Xiongan New Area, including waste incineration, food waste treatment, fecal treatment, sludge treatment, medical waste treatment, in additional to the construction of ancillary infrastructure. The project is expected to have a household waste processing capacity of 2,250 tonnes/day, food waste treatment capacity of 300 tonnes/day, fecal treatment capacity of 300 tonnes/day, sludge dehydration treatment capacity of 150 tonnes/day and a medical waste treatment capacity of 10 tonnes/day. The project will also develop car parks for garbage trucks, an indoor skiing area, among others.

Xiongan New Area, established in April 2017, is a major national strategy initiated and promoted by the Chinese President Xi Jinping. It is regarded of "national significance and a strategy crucial for a millennium to come". Mr. Wang Tianyi, CEO of Everbright International, was previously invited by the Xiongan Management Committee to deliver a presentation on the development of zero-waste cities, as part of the Xiongan Innovation Lecture Series. He also exchanged ideas with officials of the committee regarding the development of a "Zero-waste Xiongan". In September 2019, Everbright International announced the establishment of its zero-waste city research institute in Xiongan New Area. It marks China’s first research institute dedicated to the "zero-waste city" theme within the area.
