26 October 2015, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has signed a supplementary agreement to its household waste-to-energy project concession agreement with Suqian Municipal Urban Management Bureau in Jiangsu Province to invest in and construct Suqian Waste-to-energy Project ("Suqian Project" or the "Project") Phase II.

Everbright International won the tender for Suqian Project Phase I in November 2009 and completed construction and commenced operation in 2011. Project Phase I is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes and mainly processes the household waste from the Suqian downtown. Suqian is a city in northern Jiangsu whose economy has developed relatively fast and its growing population has resulted in a significant increase in the city's household waste. As Suqian Project Phase I has achieved satisfactory operation results and reached its full operational capacity, launching Project Phase II will greatly alleviate pressure on local waste treatment.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "As Suqian has been named a new demonstration city for environmental protection and energy conservation by the United Nations and a National Sanitary City by the Chinese government, the municipal government of Suqian has given a lot of support to the city to improve its environmental hygiene. After receiving the green light to increase the waste processing fee at Suqian Project Phase I in March this year, the Group secured the Project Phase II, once again demonstrating the local government's support and recognition of Everbright International. Everbright International will continue to carry out the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste in Suqian. Meanwhile, the standards of construction and operation will be further improved with Phase II in order to meet the ever-increasing demand for environmental protection and to contribute to the sustainable development of the city."
