Everbright International's Hainan Sanya Waste-to-energy Project Phase II Completes Construction and Commences Operation

6 June 2016, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that its Sanya Waste-to-energy Project ("Sanya Project" or the "Project") Phase II in Hainan Province has completed construction and commenced operation.

Sanya Project is the first waste-to-energy project that Everbright International has invested and constructed in Hainan Province as well as Sanya City and Hainan Province's key municipal project. With a total investment of RMB591 million, Sanya Project is designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 1,050 tonnes. All gas emissions have complied with the Euro 2010 Standard and it is expected to generate over 120,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Sanya Project Phase I commenced operation in December 2014, with a daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes. The Project Phase II, with an additional household waste processing capacity of 350 tonnes, started operations merely seven months after work started on its construction in October 2015. Supported by Phase II, the enhanced Sanya Project will further promote the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of local household waste.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Sanya Project Phase II marks Everbright International's 23rd operating waste-to-energy project. Finished two months ahead of schedule, Sanya Project Phase II demonstrates the Group's solid foundation and construction efficiency, which effectively shortened the construction cycle of the projects. The Group, continuing to build on its strengths and strive for excellence by further aligning itself to market conditions, will make progress through exploration and seek development through improvement, which will help to maximize the contribution to the ecological environments of our project locations."
